Posh Deaf faced a McDonald’s staff team on Sunday April 1st to celebrate their kind sponsorship of the kit and equipment.
Martin Cuthbert, McDonald’s Franchisee, is pictured with Andy Palmer, Co-ordinator of deaf football for Peterborough United before the game. Mr Cuthbert’s franchises include the McDonald’s restaurants at Boongate, Bourge Boulevard and Queensgate.
The Posh Deaf team won 12-5 in a game that saw some excellent goals with both debutant Lee McCann and Will Palmer grabbing a hat-trick each. Aaron Osker only aged 15 also grabbed two goals, one a superb left foot volley.
Mr Cuthbert said: “We operate in a community and its nice to give a little bit back to the community. Its also really nice to get involved with a team that we can get involved with too.
“We’ve just taken on of the Posh Deaf players in our restaurant at Boongate so we’re also starting to mingle, which is great!”
Andy Palmer said: “The kit McDonald’s have sponsored looks excellent and we’re delighted they have generously offered to support the deaf football team. The management and staff from McDonald’s have been so positive about the deaf football project and I really hope we can work together for many years to come.
“If any players are deaf or have a hearing loss and are looking to play football, please get in touch.”
